Juan Tapia Mendoza

MD, BOARD CERTIFIED PEDIATRICIAN 

Dr. Juan Tapia-Mendoza is a board certified pediatrician, a physician specializing in serving children of all ages. He offers extensive health care for infants, children & teens. As a pediatrician, Dr. Tapia-Mendoza is a primary care provider, the first point of contact anytime a patient is sick. Dr. Tapia-Mendoza is trained to provide well-rounded health care and works alongside the patient’s loved ones to ensure healthy growth & development. He is a Somos Community Care network provider and the founder of Pediatrics 2000 which is the largest pediatric group practice in the upper Manhattan section of Washington Heights in            New York City.

Dr. Tapia completed his post-doctoral studies at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine at Elmhurst City Hospital Center, where he became the first Dominican named “Chief Resident of Pediatrics.” He is a former faculty member at Columbia University, a former Community Affairs advisor to the New York State Psychiatric Institute, and a former Pediatrician at Babies and Children’s Hospital of New York. Dr. Tapia is currently affiliated with the Mount Sinai Hospital St. Luke’s.

As a SOMOS network pediatrician he has been on the front lines of the COVID-19 response in New York City’s most diverse and vunerable immigrant communities. To date SOMOS network providers has tested over 1.5 million people nationally, administered over 2 million vaccines, and distributed nearly 2 million meals since the start of the pandemic.
